A SEASON IN DORNOCH is both the story of one man’s immersion in the game of golf and an exploration of the world from which it emerged. Part travelogue, part portraiture, part good old-fashioned tale of matches played and friendships made, it takes us on an unforgettable journey to a marvelous, moody, mystical place.

Now reissued to mark the 25th anniversary of this landmark book, with a Foreword by Sean Connery, an Introduction by Stephen Proctor, an Afterword by Tom Clyne, and a new essay by Lorne Rubenstein that brings his story up to date. This edition also features 32 photographs, including striking images of Royal Dornoch and the town, and photos collected during Lorne’s adventures in the Highlands.

Delightful 25 Years Later

Lorne Rubenstein’s classic about golf and life in the Scottish Highlands is as soulful and engaging now as it was 25 years ago. This edition is updated with new words from Lorne and Tom Coyne and includes a photo deck featuring the author and his family. Royal Dornoch may be the star of the show but Lorne’s engagement with all the characters in the supporting cast defines what is great about Scotland: the people and their challenging history. Enjoy!

So much more than a book on golf

One of the finest, and timeless, books on golf but so much more. Royal Dornoch is one of the most famous links in the world but Lorne’s summer adventure captures the spirit of the town, the colourful characters he meets and the enduring influence of The Clearances on the Highlands of Scotland.

A Season in Dornoch

This elegant tale of living in Dornoch for a summer and meeting the Highlanders, learning their history, and playing rounds in the 'full conditions' of Scotland is a delight and a clarion call to get to the 'home country.'
